A fountain running again, and a gate that finally latches

Adventures of a Handy Human… this week was water and hinges.

First one was a stone fountain in a back garden that had stopped running. Nine times out of ten that is not the fountain, it is the line feeding it or a valve that has seized up. This one was the line. Got it re-plumbed and the valve swapped, and it was burbling away again before I left.

Second was a back gate. The kind that you have to lift with your knee to get the latch anywhere near the catch. People put up with that for years without realising it is usually a half hour job. New hardware, got it hanging square again, and now it closes with a finger.

Neither of those is a big job. Both of them are the sort of thing that annoys you every single day until somebody sorts it out.

If something round your place has been annoying you like that, send me a photo and I will tell you what it takes.
