The small electrical and plumbing I can do — and what I will tell you to call someone else for

I would rather be straight about this up front than have you book me for something I am going to turn down when I arrive.

Things I do. Replacing a faucet. Swapping a sink. Putting in a garbage disposal or taking a dead one out. Replacing an outlet or a switch on an existing circuit. Swapping a light fixture for a new one. Chasing a drip on a fixture and sorting it.

These are like-for-like replacements on things that already exist and already work. That is the honest description of the line.

Things I will tell you to call a licensed trade for. New circuits. Panel work. Anything behind a wall that needs opening up. Re-piping. Gas, ever. Water heaters. Anything where a permit is involved.

That is not me being cautious for the sake of it. It is that those jobs need someone licensed for them, and you want the paperwork if you ever sell the place.

If you are not sure which side of the line your job is on, ask me. I will tell you, and if it is not mine I will say so rather than have a go at it.
